Interesting Hard Time tokens...I don't know much about these. But I have been tempted to start delving into this part of the hobby..

I am getting my popcorn and subscribing to this topic. Looking forward to the responses.

These are Civil War Tokens. For a brief discussion of Civil War Tokens, go to the following site: http://www.cwtsociety.com/

Your first and third tokens are of the Patriotic Type. Your second Token is a Store Card.

Patriotic Civil War Tokens are distinguished by a pair of die numbers (assigned by father/son George and Melvin Fuld). Your first token is Fuld 112/396a ("a" designates copper). It is rarity level R1. Your third token is Fuld 34/276a. It is rarity level R6. Your second token is Fuld NY140A-1a where NY represents New York of course, 140 designates Cohoes, NY. "A" designates Alden & Frink. "1" designates your design variation. "a" stands for copper. It is rarity level R1.

Sorry for the calling them hard time tokens, I did not know there was a distinction between the tokens from the civil war and those in the 1833-1843 time frame. I do now

Thanks Token Dave

The biggest difference(other than date) between Hard Times tokens and Civil War/Store card tokens is size. The HTTs are the size of large cents while the Civil War issues are the size of Indian Heads.

And Cohoes is about ten miles upriver from where I am, here in Albany.
