I recently had an Uncirculated $1 2006 Star Note Bundle (100 bills) up for auction, and it went for a little over 1.5 times face ($157). I had a decent picture and described it to the best of my ability. I did ship it off a little later than I should have, but the purchaser was downright rude in chastising me for not mentioning the busted BEP Strap. He stated that it was worth considerably less since the original BEP Strap was taped together, and would leave a negative feedback. I replied back that it was was his prerogative to do so, and I would be more descriptive in the future, if I try to list another 100 bill bundle. I probably should have broken it up into smaller quantities (like 10 or less), instead of the 100 note bundle. Does anyone have any info on the "taped" BEP Strap diminishing the value? Or is this person just being crass for the heck of it? Edited by oih82w8 02/09/2010 5:58 pm

I would liken it to the equivalent of purchasing a proof set and getting a cracked case or better yet, a roll of coin split open and then taped up- I would be kinda miffed if I received either one of those.

Oh well...I will be sure to mention even the most minuscule things about the next listing, if any.

if he was unhappy with the sale did you offer him a refund if he sent the items back? That is what I would have done because I always offer a no questions asked refund on everything I sale because sometimes there is honest mistakes and sometimes some people are more anal than others about things and I know I want to be happy with how I spend my money and want everyone else to feel the same if they buy from me.

Yes, I offered a refund but he said that he would have to make due with the bundle. I still think he got a deal, and would make up for the inconvenience of a broken BEP strap by selling them in smaller groupings (at least his auctions reflect a pattern).

I agree with Bryan, an offered refund would have been an amicable resolution. Yes, I would have not liked getting a busted strap but if the seller offered a full refund then I would not have had a problem. It does seem kind of silly to complain about the item yet refuse a refund.

if you offered then you did what should have been done in my opinion and if he leaves negative feedback then I would just leave a follow up stating you tried to refund and he declined. There isn't much you can do besides what you said you have already done. Doesn't really matter what kind of deal you made nor how much he makes from selling them, if he was unahappy the only resolution is get a refund

Actually, you can just go the bank and ask for the blue/green/red BEP straps. They'll just take it off a new stack, replace it with a generic one, and give you the BEP one :D .. at least for the bank I always go to the tellers will give them to me.
Wow! $157 for a $100 stack? That's an awesome sell!

BEP straps are not relevant. I have a crap load of unmarked BEP straps from brand new currency and I just throw them away. In fact I have around 15 new straps just laying around. The only way I would say I might have an effect on the price is if the bills were dated prior 1960's otherwise they should have no effect.
