I'm just excited that you guys are around !!!! I get excited when I find something unusual and can hardly wait to get home and share it with you all.
I finally found this coin at a price I could afford and low-n-behold I find something unique about it, that keeps me from putting it in my "TYPE" book !!

Here's what I found .... the "PLURIBUS" appears to be on another "Plateau" ......

Anyone ahve some input on this?

Should I have it graded?

That certainly looks unusual. I would like to hear what other members who are more educated on this topic have to say.

Hi 3rd-branch

Very interesting coin,, the E-Pluribus-Unum looks to have some good doubling as well as the very Prominent Die clash (at least thats what it looks like to me ).Im really interested in seeing the apparent doubling better !!

Die clashes were fairly common the D and S mint coins of this date and type,,

Any chance of getting full pics of both sides of the coin? To get a feel for the overall grade .

Rick

I can take other pics closer up, what areas in particular should I be focusing ( no pun intended ) on? I'll post what ever pics we need.

wow that was quick !! I barely got my post made before the pics appeared !!

The pics are a bit blury for good detail but the coin looks like it maybe high EF or low AU.

The coin even a grade below my estimate would be worth the fee's to have graded and if the doubling is real, that would only be an enhancement IMO.

Very Nice !!!

Thanks metalman ......
I was looking over your shoulder when you posted

Nah, just thought it would be a good thing to post the full pics after I did the original post.

I actually bought the coin this morning at a "Flea" market. The guy only had a few coins and this one was the best of the litter. When I asked him what his price was he said " I'll ta200 bucks for it."
I just couldn't believe it ....... That's about the fastest I've pull this ole wallet out, in long long time.

I guess that's my great find for awhile......

ok that answers that, the doubling was pic anomoly,,

It still leaves the coin being a very good buy !!! and very interesting with the apparent die clash.

As much as dis like TPG's this is a coin I would still have graded and authenticated !!

Definitely a die clash, and as Metalman said, they are somewhat common. What you are seeing surrounding the EPU on the reverse is an up-side down and reversed impression of the indian's throat.
