My debt card is the only thing I use. I'm in the same boat as djluster. To be honest I can say the exact same thing. Cash in hand is a bad thing for me , and I collect coins, Go figure [:p].

Yes I do play,I was one of the kids that had the band in high school that thought we was going to go all the way. The lead Singer we had is now a country singer who goes by the name of Jimmy Wayne, His real name is Jimmy Wayne Barber (for thoise of you that doesn't know the name you may have heard his songs, "stay gone" and "I love you this much" those were two of his biggest hits so far). As to how I obtained the guitar it was another valuable thing that my grandfather gave me, he bought it when it was brand new in 63 and it didnt have a scratch on it anywhere and it had the pickups in it that patent pending which is the ones that everyone wants which is why it was so valuable, I would have never gotten rid of it but at the time we were in a bad way here at home me just getting hurt on the job and I couldnt see having a 20k dollar guitar sitting in the bedroom that I hardley ever play when my family was struggling to pay the power bill. Its just one of the things I never thought I would get rid of that because I have a family that means more to me than any posession they just had to go

I actually use cash or checks more often than I use my credit cards, unless I'm at the gas station! Guess I'm old fashioned or something. People still use a lot of cash around here, the amount of cash that some of the bank's customers are willing to carry around astounds me. Most of our customers don't use debit cards or direct deposit very often, they want cash and cash only.

I only use credit cards and checks when making transactions on the phone, internet, in the mail, or large purchases, and use cash for almost everything else. Cash is still faster than writing out a check or swiping a card and waiting for the cashier to hand you the receipt to sign and time is of the essence for me. I lived in Japan for a year and absolutely loved it because everyone used cash and I never once had to wait in line for someone who had a problem with his card or check.

I only use cash/coins because I value my privacy and I will not buy into the cashless society being brought on (I'm glad no one said they have been chipped to buy things with).

I agree with you wholeheartedly antiquecollector. Sorry though...don't know what "chipped to buy things with" means.

Chipped to buy things refers to RFID chips implanted into your skin. They're being used in Europe by wealthy people for use at high end nightclubs, etc., and advertised there and here as a solution for everything from elderly people who might forget their medical info. or wander off, to children who may wander off, tomaking it more convenient to buy things. Some grocery stores are also having people use their fingerprints to buy things. There is also a machine now that will identify your face and turn it into a barcode. Really bizarre and scary stuff in my opinion. There's something very sinister behind it.

In non-internet/non-gasoline transactions I use cash 95% of the time. I use a card at the pump because of the 5% discount. Internet I just use paypal whenever possible. And for large coin transactions ($1,000+) I will use a check. But under that I normally carry enough cash to cover about anything... and I will up until I get my pocket picked.

AntiqueCollector, just you saying the chips are used by the "wealthy" puts me out of that catagory, not that I would ever do such a thing anyway. It reminds me of something I have read since I was a kid (I will not name the book or who it was written by but I am sure others have read it also) and to be honest just scares the heck out of me when I think of what it will be like for my children when they get my age or even my grandchildren (which I dont have yet)

Currently it's mainly the wealthy and famous doing it in most cases, in order to convince others to do it too. The chip companies know exactly what they are doing and are using famous people to get people used to the idea. They have even broadcasted on television in Mexico President Fox getting chipped, I recall from my reading. In fact, it's relatively cheap to do, so anyone can be chipped. And, in fact, they're working on nano chips that are so small they can be breathed in through the air (if someone were to release them that is) which is very frightening because you could have a bunch of them inside you without knowing it.

They're also getting people used to it through chipping of animals (look up NAIS if you care to. The goal is chipping/registering/tracking of every animal in the future too. But it's all "for our own good" they claim...and the so-called exemption for animals not leaving your premises is a joke since there would be no way to get unchipped animals in the first place unless you have them already).

I worry myself about what it will be like for me in the future, and if I have any children...scary to think about.
