I've recently gotten this coin. It's a little oval 17 x 16 mm. It has signs of little electroplate on both sides that are visible on the pictures. Based on my observation/investigation from variety of web sites this coin likely is Caesar/Augustus 28 Jan 198 - 8 Apr. Obv: it looks to me ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, Laureate, draped bust right, seen from behind. Rev: Salus standing facing, head left, left hand holding tall staff with snake winding around it, right hand raising smaller female figure facing her on one knee. (I could be wrong in details). So, could somebody help me to identify this coin, its mint and appox. value.

Sorry, but your ID of this coin is not correct.

This is a Late Roman Bronze of Emperor Valens: obverse legend DNVALEN SPFAVG (D N Valens P F Aug). Reverse type GLORIARO MANORVM (gloria Romanorum), emperor holding standard and dragging captive by the hair. The mintmark is TESA or TESB; Thessalonica, Greece.

See This Wildwinds page; scroll down to Thessalonica mint and see several coins of this basic type, like this one.

The brothers Valentinian and Valens ruled the Roman empire in the late 4th century AD. Valentinian (364-375) rule the western empire from Treveri and Valens (364-378) the eastern empire from Constantinople. Coins from these co-emperors are mostly common and can be found in high grades. Your coin was minted in Thessalonica, a city in north east Greece.
