Well, Today I hit my first coin show. I guess I am officially a collector now. I found a about 8 nice Walking Liberty halves that I needed. I also grabbed a couple of Large Cents as well. It was very cool. Much different than I expected. The coins that some people have, I can't figure out how they got that many. All the dealers there have HUNDREDS if not thousands of coins on hand. One gentleman had at least a half million dollars in coins there. I know nothing about coins but my god he had a collection that was amazing. I will be hitting every month, that is for sure !

Glad you had a good time. I really enjoy coin show as well but we only have two a year in boise Idaho. There is not other show close by. I agree with you it is amazing to see how mainy coins they have. you wonder if they started out as collector like most of us or did they just have a big sum of money to go and invest.

Welcome to the forum. In all my years of collecting, I don't think I have ever been to a real coin show. I've been to a Mall where coin dealers were selling their wares in the hallways, but that's not really a coin show. I think I will attend my first, and it will be a biggie. The ANA's convention in Denver later this summer. I tentatively plan on being there, and it should be quite an experience.

Hi Kerry
Sounds like you had a great time and went well prepared to find and purchase only what you went for ,,well almost anyway !!
Are you collecting the walkers in UNC or circulated grades ? This is a beautiful coin and closely related to my favorite having been designed by the same person .
Thanks for the news on your first show, I enjoyed reading it !!

Metalman, My goal (at first) is just to get circulated grades and up-grade later. Unfortunatly, I am not rich and can afford the UNC grades yet. I am restoring a 66 Lemans and that is sucking up some $$$ as well ( actually, a LOT of sucking up)...lol. Plus I am relitivly new to coins as well. Having fun at it though....Thanks for the reply !

Hi Kerry
I can relate to the car and money,, I used to restore 66 Thunderbirds,, I actually completed three.
I was alot younger then and running my own business, but it was a great time for me !!
once you reach the 50 post minimum for trading and such on the forum, be sure and post a want list, there will more than likely be some help here !!

My restoring car is a 1969 Super Bee that I have had since I was 17, it is almost finished now. I just rebuilt the 440+6 that came from the factory and put it back in. I am also a certified car nut, I have a 6 cars in my garage, not counting the 2 we drive and all are collector cars to me atleast(one being my 69 Super Bee, I have a 69 DZ302 Z28 with just a little over 12000 miles on it, it still has factory paint and everything on it original and looks like it just rolled out of the showroom, I also have 2 corvettes, one is a 1978 silver anniversary and the other is a 2000, then I have a 93 Z28 (the first year of that body style) and a 89 RS Camaro as well All have been entered in car shows and a few have won numerous trophys)So I definately know how much money restoring a vehicle can be
Not to make this a complete reply about cars, I have not attended a coin show yet but I am definately looking forward to doing so as soon as I possibly can

Well, I would have a restored car if I had not stupidly sold my 1968 Mustang convertible.
Beautiful car. Metallic blue, black top.
Sold it because I figured Ford would continue making Mustangs with the same design. Wrong.
Woulkd dearly love to have it back.
It had 80,000 miles. I sold it for $1500.
I will always regret selling it.

Along with my 66 Lemans, I also have a 66 Galaxie. It is a four door is the only bad thing. I got it about a month ago. Straight as a string, rebuilt 289 , interior all redone, runs better than a new car. Even has A/C. I picked it up for $1500. Threw some cragars on it and it is VERY sharp. My Lemans has a fresh 400 in it. Engine compartment is all detailed, interior is decent. Just needs the body work done. Was supposed to be in the shop by now but the shop had to tear up their parking lot. Who knows when it will go in now......I have also had four 68 Cougars, 67 BelAir Wagon, 68 Chevelle Wagon, 63 OLds, 57 Pontiac, 72 Vista Cruiser, 69 ElCamino and a few more....I like to buy and sell old cars. I have some GTO parts and misc. muscle car stuff laying around if anyone is interested in trading for some coins.
Cheers !

Welcome to the forum Kerry!
Hmmm.. since we are on the subjuect of restoring cars. I am in the middle of restoring a 69 Mustang Mach 1. It has 12,900 original miles on it. Sat in a garage for most of its life until my dad bought it in 1988 with 8,000 miles froma cousin. He then sat it on the shelf to build a Shelby Cobra and handed the Mustang off to me when I had turned 21.
