Ok, so I heard that the Wide AM or WAM vaarieties stem from mostely 98,99, and 2000. I have found numerous WAM's on older dates, 82-d, 92, 87, etc.. is this common or rare? are my eyes deceiving me?

The 1996 WAM was discredited. Long story, but the bottomline is no 96 WAM was discovered and authenticated.

Yes, forum member Bullnuke (sp?) found the only 1992 Close AM that I've heard of. It's in a PCGS holder now.

I've been searching for the WAM and Close WAM varieties for a year now. I've only found 5 98 WAMs'. I haven't found any 99's or 00's. I'm very anxious to find a 99 WAM. Despite what some may say, I feel the 98 WAM is the most common. My greatest ambition is to find any Close 92. I check every one I see despite mint mark. No luck yet, but if I ever do find one...its going directly to PCGS for authentication. I feel that the window to find these coins in circulation in any worthwhile grade is now. Zincolns die fast. I'm already finding 2009 series cents with pitty. And plenty of older zincolns are competely trash, I don't even bother to look at the date. If its rotten, it doesn't matter what it is.

I only recently began looking for WAM - they are the only variety I am actively hunting...for now. I've searched maybe 6 boxes since the start and found one 1998 WAM. From what I've gathered on this thread and the Lincoln RHing thread, this is a pretty good start. I think it may have spoiled me a little though Quote: I believe his was the second sent in for authentication and since a 3rd has been found. three known huh? Whats the breakdown between P and D? 2 and 1? --Gary

Found a 98 WAM last night in my sons piggy bank. Yes I know, I am raiding his piggybank but when you dont have anything to sort in the house and time to sort, you resort to desperate measures. Also found a Chucky Cheese token! :P

I think the 98 Wide AM is also a lot more common than the 2000, but thats just me. to add to what Thad said the 96 that "was found" got stolen and never gained credit for actually being found. A lot of people think it was a hoax.

Regardless of price guide, I think the 1998 WAM is much more common than the 2000 WAM. I also have found many more 1998s than 2000s.
