Is this something that will come off with an acetone bath
or just toning ? @ 8 and 10 o'clock

I agree with the experts opinion above ...... but .... suggest you check again the date of this coin as there are not any know 1942-D Silver War Nickels.

Perhaps you have a unique rarity date/mm .... or perhaps you have mis-spoken about the date?

BTW ..... great clear photo .... wish I could do that
