Hi all,

Finally taking pictures again and decided to start on my unidentified RPMs, OMMs, and Doubled Dies accumulated over the years. You should see a 1955-S Lincoln Wheat cent with an RPM S/S West showing on the upper curve of the S. I can't find this one on Coppercoins, in the RPM book, etc. Or maybe I am overlooking something, so would appreciate any input on it you can offer...

Here is a lower magnification photo. This is similar to RPM #4 but MM is a little closer to the 5 and it is not as wide a spread.

Those are great pix. What are you using to take the photos?

It is a RPM. Minor but a RPM. It may be listed sometime though. It appears to have a lower Split serif. It's a keeper in my book.

These were taken with a Bausch and Lomb Monozoom7 microscope, mounted with a Tucsen 3MP camera, lit with a ring light. The camera has live update software so I can watch the image on the screen. The microscope has decent depth of field and a nice zoom range and I have 0.5x / 0.7x / 1.0x / 2.0x objectives to extend the range further. This was taken with the 1.0x objective.

I would have guessed a ring light. The problem with them is that there is no direction in the lighting. On light works best for images. The light/shadows help to identify varieties better.

The S over S that I see listed looks like this. The one you posted is a minor but is nice. This is the FS 021.97

The ring light I am using actually has 12 discrete light sources. It's pretty easy to block any one or multiples of them to enhance the shadow effect for showcasing a particular variety. In this case I tried covering a few different sources but I lost some detail with each source I blocked, so the full ring gave the best detail on the RPM.

I see what looks like clash marks on the 1955D twohawks. I'll have to do some research on the S over S.

Here are some alternate lighting photos. First 10 are by blocking one of the ringlight elements. Last 5 are with an Ott Light positioned at 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 1:30, 3:00. What do you guys think? I did white balance on both sources...

Sequence blocking one of the 12 light sources...

Great photos. I wish I had an RPM guild, to help out. I have one of the S/S that is in the Cherrypickers guild. But not this one.

Nice coins and photos, coop. I'm starting into a project to photograph all my un-attributed RPMs, OMMs and Doubled Dies. I'll post them here as I take them. Hopefully won't drive you all crazy.
