I am looking for a coin, token or medallion with a powerful/inspiring image of lady liberty (roman goddess of justice/freedom), holding the "scales of justice". Any suggestions? I'm looking to mount one on a plaque or something, and give it as a gift.
Scales aren't traditionally associated with Liberty. On ancient coins, Libertas (the Greeks called her Eleutheria) held a sceptre and a pileus, or liberty cap. Example of a Galba Liberty on Wildwinds.
Aequitas (Equity and fair dealing) and Moneta (the Mint) usually hold scales; surprisingly, Justitia (Justice) rarely does so.
As for modern coins, the Liberty on French Indochinese silver coins is seated and holding a fasces. It's the most impressive-looking Liberty on a coin I can think of.
