a woman had bought a Bust dollar from a dealer and now wants her money back 4 years later because another dealer and heritage told her it had been cloroxed (never heard this term before). If this comes on in a different time in your area may be something good to watch

By "cloroxed", I take it she meant it was cleaned with clorox bleach. Sounds like an interesting episode, do you know the title of the case?

I was thinking dipped but the paper from Heritage said Cloroxed but I have never heard that term before. The judge said she needed an expert opinion not just a fax from someone she doesn't know their credentials of so the verdict was in the sellers favor. The plantiff kept saying it was not original and the judge took that as it being fake and said she had to prove it was fake, but neither one of them knew the proper terms to explain what was going on. If she had explained it was altered and stuff and explained it was a problem coin when it had been represented as problem free it may have been different. Heritage just said it could not grade at PCGS because it had been cloroxed and the judge didn't know who heritage or Stacks was which of course not very many people would unless they collected but the plantiff should have brought some type of history about who she was dealing with

A dilute Clorox (sodium hypochlorite) solution will "artificially tone" a silver coin, especially one that has previously been cleaned. The plaintiff was accusing the seller of being a coin doctor, and not a very good one; hypochlorite has a tendency to produce ugly, garish, purple colours and is usually readily identifiable as AT by the experts.

A Cleaned, then Cloroxed coin: Before. After. The pics were taken from an old Usenet post.
