The seller of this coin has sold alot of coins on ebay and has 100% feedback and the coin is PCGS graded.I'm just curious as to why on the first Strike the stars are worn down flat while the off center second strike the stars look new with very little if any wear on them.I'm just curious about this.Any thoughts on how this can be?

The first strike is a higher point on the coin and would get worn faster than the second strike with is on a lower coin?

Hmmmmmm. Looks interesting to me.I really can't see how there could be that much of a difference in the wear on the two areas of the coin.

The off center portion is thinner than the rest of the coin since it was struck out of collar. Because of that thickness difference, the curved area of the first strike is protecting the starred area of the second strike so it has received less overall wear in that area. Still, it is amazing that an error like that could have circulated down to EF. Maybe an old-time collector carried it as a pocket piece, not too implausible considering one of the 1913 V nickels was once carried as a pocket piece

Those are some good plausible scenarios."the first strike is protecting the area of the second strike".and "Maybe an old-time collector carried it as a pocket piece, not too implausible considering one of the 1913 V nickels was once carried as a pocket piece"..There is just such a huge difference in the wear in the two strikes it makes me question the coin

That makes sense biokemist. I never even thought about that. I like error coins, but I need to learn about them... Thanks for the info.

You know, there are fake PCGS slabs around. I would have to see a lot more of that coin before believing that it is real, slabbed or not.

That whole sale and construct doesn't make sense to me. I feel like I'm looking at two different coins.
