The color appears a very nice, original brown. Some may call me crazy....but I actually like to see those old carbon spots on there. It shows the originality of the surfaces.

Sadly, there's some old damage to the head. It must have happened around the time the coin was minted because the patina is even across the damage. It has raised the metal, notice the friction marks, so that area became a wear point. That hurts this coin.

EF-48 details (yea, that's a 48)

This is my 1916, a humble coin, but it's one of my favs. I have a red one too, but I like this one better so I kept both. I like the carbon spots! hehehehehe

ummmmmmmmmm Thad?... Should I blame the damage to the head on Mr. John Wilkes Booth? I think that happened long before this coin was minted though.


My apologies... I blame Thad though...he's the one that painted the bullseye and pointed the gun...all I had to do was squeeze the trigger...


That 1916 is beautiful Thad! I can see why it's a favorite!

Really though. The blood should have been spilled on the coin that I have.I was told that the penny was in Lincolns pocket when he was killed.Hmmmm
