Post An Ike (Eisenhower Dollar)

I think this coin has a lot of potential. That is to say it would probably sell for multiples of its PCGS price guide value. I would probably pay up to $40 for it in an auction. I'm a sucker for such coins, though. Heck, sometimes I even pay up for artificially toned Ikes. It just depends on the vibrance of color and pattern. I like this one.

Stunning for sure

I'm nervous that my one and only Ike has a condition. It's a 1971s and still in it's original mint wrapper - I'm the original owner and had it stored in a fairly dry place for 45 years. Anyway, here it is...






I'm concerned about the many residue splotches on the obverse. They're on the coin not the wrapper. On the reverse there are parallel lines starting near the rim on the left. Looks like the eagle got run over by a small truck! I never noticed any of this before but since joining this forum and taking pictures I'm starting to notice many lurid details about my collection. Maybe this stuff was there in 1971 or maybe not.
Does anyone have experience or insights with any of this? Is it just the ravages of age?

Agreed I would take it out and seal it in something different an airtight capsule maybe.

Thank you gentlemen. Ike has been sprung from his squalid home and now resides in a Saflip 2.5 x 2.5 along with his companion mint token, both sides sealed using my wife's FoodSaver (w/o vacuum). Good for another 45 years.
