Nice work Kevin!...the bUG has hit, it is written, and, so it will be...now, get on the Ikegroup.info forum, and rock the house. Wait till you get your first peg leg..first talon head..first monster clashed..first early die state, with details so crisp, it makes you cry...first "Friendly Eagle", cherrypicked off an unsuspecting ebay seller...first double die..first struck through Greaser.. .just leave the IKE Junk BUCKET alone, at MY local coin shop, or I'll hunt you down.... |

But these are so low in value anyways at most I would lose $2 a coin and still have a nice looking Ike without having to look at it through 40 year old cellophane. I do put them in brand new 2x2's or albums. While I like to take them out of their cellophane, I won't take them out of hard slabs. |

Nice ones Darth, don't get me wrong. Maybe it's the photos, but I don't understand PCGS. The 64 to me is better than the 66. Obv marks on the jaw, neck, field under Y, rim at 4:00, rev gashes on the chest and left wing. Must be different in person?

Before purchasing these I basically had the same thoughts going through my mind. In hand, it is obvious that the 78-D is better, especially on the obverse. But it doesn't appear this way if you look at the TrueView images. Sometimes lighting, even in these "glamor" shots, can either hide or expose imperfections. If you look closely at the '78 you'll notice light marks all over the forehead and neck area. Also, there is a nasty rub on the jawline. These are more readily seen in hand. The TrueView image for the 78-D is a more accurate representation. I have to remind myself that the grade is not given by viewing an image, but by observing the coin in hand. I think the '78 is at the top end of 64 (64+) and the 78-D is only a low-end, technical 66. The price was fair on it, so I pulled the trigger. It only ended up costing me $60, so to me it was worth the upgrade. Another one may come along that is a nicer 66, so I could still "upgrade" within the same 66 grade. Without those marks it could possibly be a 67. So close..... but it wouldn't matter anyway. I couldn't afford it.  Edited by Darth Morgan
