Quote: Here is a fairly well match set up picked up on ebay. The toning is hard to show, but looks great in hand. The 76 & 76D type 1's were not nice and got the boot. Very nice!

Today's mail call. I was picked up an Ike lot from ebay for face (not sure how that happened!) and one of the coins was a 71S! Sweet silver @ face. The coin is well worn and very ugly so I'm going to keep wearing it down as a pocket piece.

Here is one more from the lot that was interesting. The coin is thinner than the other Ikes and notice how Liberty extend to the end of the coin? I'm not sure if this was struck on a 50c planchet or just a worn die. The coin is in AU condition. I guess I will need to weigh it.

Went to BofA to pick up some nickels and asked if they had any halves. They had a roll (nothing in there) but at the same time, she picked up a stack of coins that had a rubber band wrapped around the and she said "oh, those are dollars, you don't want those". I saw they were large dollars and I said, "no, no, no, I'll take those". She said some older man gave them to her and they've been sitting in the vault for sometime now. All in all, 10 total. Nice trip to the bank!

Ran across this ad on FB yesterday and did a double take. Yep, that's rice on an Ike. In the comments someone asked why they were showing a picture of rice on a quarter. Of course, I had to reply that it was actually an Eisenhower dollar.

Probably implies that some people stashing their extra cash in a rice container.

I recently ran across a handful of 1973-S silver Ike dollars in their original mint packaging, and began moving them on ebay. I have not been keeping up on U.S. coin prices (I collect older world coins), but have been surprised that these Ikes get snapped up rather quickly. What's the deal?

1976s, holder reads "proof" "clad variety # 1" is this accurate to the actual coin? any idea what proof rating this equates to in todays system? Paid $6.50 as you can see in early 90s with paper route money. Thanks for any input:)
