Chuck Got the Drift. Bummer about the 71 S I still can't help but feel there is something about that presentation case. But then again I may just need sleep I was just going through one of the photobucket accounts and was looking at a 72 type 2 August release and something jumped out at me. Lets see if it jumps out at you. Notice the nice strong strike on the reverse, Nice square edges to the letters and devices. Now do you notice something Missing? I will look around the safe tomorrow and see if I can find the coin itself to check it out under a glass again. I will let you know as soon as I find out. You may have to save them to your computer so you can blow them up a little Terry Oops Here are the pics

Terry: If that's what I think it is, CONGRATS! WTG! 1972P TYPE 2 "PEG LEG R!" I blew the pic of the "R" up pretty big and I don't see any serif on the left bottom! A Straight Peg Leg!! Pic below! This has to be a first! I don't think any PEG LEGS have been found on any Type 2's that I'm aware of. What *issue is this Type 2 again? You say it's an August issue, but the sub title under the actual pics say March. * To start looking for this PEG LEG!* CONGRATS AGAIN! Chuck.

Chuck Finally found the 72 type 2 and thank you for pointing out the title on the picture I accidentally put the picture in a folder marked August Release. It is indeed one of my March releases. I put it under the glass and there was the serif on both side Sorry to get you excited over nothing. So the search continues. Terry

OH NUTS! No Peg Leg!
Ok, getting back to your post, what am I "missing" that's "missing" on the coin?
I got so excited thinking this was a NEW DISCOVERY, I'm "missing" something here! (LOL).
The only other thing I'm seeing right now is the draught (islands below Florida)) on the earth looks wiped out.

Chuck Good Eyes That is exactly what I had jump out at me in the picture But on closer inspection with the glass with the coin in hand the Mega Island is there but very lightly. the same coin has had me excited twice now. Thinking that it had the missing Mega Island like the 72 S above It has become habit for me to look at the earths closely on all Ike's as a marker for the Prototype That is how I noticed the missing Mega Island on the 72 S is a built in habit from searching 71-S's What even has me questioning the 72 S is that is such a well hammered strike. Yet that Island part of the design and nothing else is missing. Just one of those weird feeling things like your presentation case and that is why I never parted with the 1 1974 S Cuni Clad Proof Micro "S" I ran across. Just that feeling that something was up with it looking so much Like the famous 74-S Silver Micro "S" and we know how that one turned out. With one die being used to make two different metal composition proof coins. Terry

Probably correct- another one to file away.
Did you get your Ike book yet?
I'm still excited over getting it and taking my time reading each chapter :)

I really like the toning on this one. Not colored toning. I am unsure of what to call it...Thanks J

JayMan Very Cool Look to that Ike I Like that Thanks for sharing it Chuck, I have not had a chance to order the book yet Very soon I hope. I imagine from the few advance chapters I was fortunate to read, I can say I can definitely appreciate Rob Ezermans writing style it helps getting my head wrapped around some of the concepts Terry

Finally Ordered the New Eisenhower Book By The Ike Group 499 pages of Eisenhower dollars YEEHA I like the feel of a hard back edition but decided to purchase the paper back edition right now. Because I really want the Hard Back Special Edition but don't think I can wait until June when it comes out. So I ordered the paperback to hold me over Terry

Just scored '71 and '72 silver proofs still in their mint-issued coffins for $27.01 on ebay! Time for some more dancing fruit! I'll post up pics of them when they arrive. Just 5 more coins to go before my first-ever set is complete!

How do you like my Ike necklace! It's a 1976 Ike that I got Back in the early 1980's at auction. I have never worn it!
