Don't mind; ebay. Haven't spent any time with them yet, but looks like fun. Can't wait until my grandkids get old enough to recognize the difference in these large coins compared to others; by the way, got my second grandson yesterday.

Humh.... I'm wondering what jprine's grandkid will do with his stack of coin......
I've just spent some IKE at Del Taco and the cashier was happy/eager to take it.... I guess she know about US modern coinage..... at least that's what it seemed.

cc99999,
and as for your piece, cross post it on their facebook page- i'll talk to them about looking at it.

I appreciate your efforts, Rob Ezerman and the guys are I imagine pretty busy. It is posted on the web site. When they get some time and if they do see something like what I am seeing I am certain Rob will contact me, It has never been a problem on numerous occasions over the past few years that I have been into Ike's.

As far as TPG's grading Ike's, I think we are at the very beginning of them finally getting on board and actually grading them properly. And having their graders take the time to actually learn a little about the Eisenhower Series. After all these years of the FEV issue and the top TPG's refusing to attribute such a No Brainer variety until this year.
I just had the feeling that if they can not get something like attributing a variety with no less than 10 naked eye die markers (FEV)how on earth can they be expected to grade them with with any type of fairness.
If you you have taken the time to teach yourself how to grade coins, you know each series has their own characteristics, High points low points, points where they tend to wear first. very basic grading 101.
and with that knowledge if you have looked at more than fifty Ike's that were graded by the top TPG's, you most likely have seen a MS66 or 67 holder with an Ike in it that is not even close to that grade.
And the other direction also. a MS63 marked holder with an Ike in it that is a blazing beauty.
Until there is more consistency in their grading standards for the Eisenhower Series, the hundreds of Ike's that I have cherried over the years will stay in the holders I have put them in. And the money that would have went to the top TPG casino game will go to cherrying more Ike's While we can.

TPG Rant Off

Back to the fun part of our chosen hobby

Very nice looking 76, after taking many photos of coins that did not turn out to show the coin the way it looks in hand, and boy have I taken many, sometimes you can see past the photo and see the coin. I hope that didn't sound too crazy

bishftl,

Nice looking set of coins, Very cool clip

jprine,

Now that picture of stacks of unsearched Ike's is something that really looks like a fun time
The 77 and the 78 look really nice, I like the way you shot them with the dark fields. It make the frosted devices just pop right out there

An interesting discovery has been made in the Eisenhower Series.
As some of us remember Alan Shepard made a couple of golf drives while on the moon with a modified club head that was adapted to screw onto a sampling arm that was aboard the spacecraft during the Apollo 14 mission in 1971.
Well this was not lost on Frank Gasparro the designer of the Eisenhower dollar. On the reverse of the early years of the Ike series, 71 and 72 that I know for sure, Gasparro placed a man playing golf on the moon just above and right of the "G" in the designers initials.
A member of the Ike Group (Brian Vaile)found this quite awhile ago and I just took it at face value that it was there and that is what was. Due to Brian's unique ability to spot varieties. I did not know that others had serious doubts. Then a couple weeks ago he started a thread asking if anyone else has seen the "Little Guy" Golfing on the the moon and if they have to please share their pictures.
I found the Little Guy Golfing on two coins and posted them
With the Little Guy in two different positions. One looking like he is Either making a putt or getting ready to drive the ball with the club down on a 72 D, and with the club up like in the middle of a back swing on a 1971 D FEV Struck on Proof Planchet and a gentleman named Chris found one and posted it.
Now It is going to be an addition in the next Eisenhower dollar Book published by the Ike Group.

Talk about having a blast with a series of coins
Wow.
If anyone else sees this on any of their Eisenhower's please feel free to share them

Can't stop myself. I love the toning on the 74. The scratches on the 74 and 72 are on the plastic (brown Ike); the 71 blue Ike will have to come out of the plastic sheath to stop the toning.

Beautiful toning!

My 1974-S Proof is toned the same way, but yours is not as hazy as mine.
