Looks like scrape marks to me,maybe from a wrapping machine?

the "in+g" shown as: IN G :in your picture IMHO.looks like to me that the bottom of the "I" has been hit.the bottom of the left "N" leg also looks 'hit' and then maybe some small worn/deteriorated die.the right bottom leg "N" is pointed looks like a hit also.i don't see anything under the 'G'.
