This information is from another forum but I wanted everyone to be awar and to keep a eye out for these things to maybe help a fellow collector get his property back
The following were stolen from dealer Wes Chormicle. If you think you find any of them contact him via
the newsgroup rec.collecting.coins

The following Bust Half Dollars are missing and presumed stolen. The
coins were sent to ANACS for re-holder and disappeared while at ANACS
sometime in the past 100 days. All are in old style ANACS holders.

I'm confused ... whose possession were they in when they were stolen? At the top it says:

quote:
The following were stolen from dealer Wes Chormicle:

But further on down:

quote:

The coins were sent to ANACS for re-holder and disappeared while at ANACS
sometime in the past 100 days

Does dealer Wes Chormicle work at ANACS?

If they were at ANACS when they were stolen, who is liable for the replacement? I would assume that ANACS has insurance for this type of thing, right?

I know this is just a copy/paste from usenet, but these are hypothetical questions. This is a terrible thing to have happen...

These items were shipped to ANACS(Wes Chormicle is just the rightful owner), and the postal service says they were signed for at ANACS but when they contacted ANACS they were told they have no record of the coins ever being there. From what I can gather from the posts on the other forum the PO did get signature confirmation when it was delivered so the package was lost/stolen between them accepting the package and it making it to the graders room. This was about 20% of one of the top Bust Half collections in the country

I wanted to update you all on these coins, they have been found. Here is what was said on another forum with all the information about them.

The lot of 80 Bust Half Dollars that were sent to ANACS have been found. JT from ANACS contacted us to let us know that some how these fell through the cracks during the move. JT & ANACS have been nothing but professional in dealing with this situation. Some members here had questioned why these were sent in for re-holder in the first place. That answer is simply that ANACS attributes varieties, PCGS does not. Also, that is what the owner wanted.
