I'm seeing a lot of these 2010 First Day Issue Graded Lincoln Shield Cents on ebay. Will these be worth any more years down the road just because they are slabbed as First Day Issue?

Seems to me they would not be, seems like a gimmick to me, but would like to know other's opinions.

I'm still a "new collector", but there are a "lot" of these new pennies floating around. Even my uncle has 8 rolls and they all look BU. I don't forsee any $ increases unless the US Mint mints some in proofs. I forsee no MS70's, at least for the present nor future. Remember, Drewmc1, "this is only an opinion".

i think if you can get one in MS69 to 70 itll be worth alot in the future. these coins seem to get dinged up more then the regular zincoln. so finding a good one in 2 years is gonna be impossible. IMO

High MS grades of any regular business strike will always do well in value. (Especially since the advent of the U.S. Mints "Satin Finish" editions, which make the regular biz. strikes more rare in high MS grades.)
This one in particular is a "first year design", so it'll have more attention, and yeah, as per norm, the condition of recent years of Cent issues have been "gnarly" to say the least ! And they very quickly deteriorate "in the wild" as everyone is well aware of.
So, I would think that some high grade slabs of these would be worthwhile to have.
As far as "First Day Issue" labels go, though.....I just ignore those myself ~! ....means absolutely NOTHING to me !
Or, I should say, I'll never pay extra for that.
(Unless they came from the "Official Release Ceremony" and are stamped and cancelled by the Post Office)

These will certainly be issued in the yearly Proof and Silver Proof Sets, as per normal from the Mint.
But I wouldn't be surprised to see an MS69 or MS70 version valued higher than a Proof Shield Cent !! (for reasons mentioned above)

I don't think FDOI LSCs will be worth more that highly graded regular issue. My reasoning is that the early releases of the coins in PR made WAY to many FDOIs being sent to the TPGs ... One of them put out the fact that they actually got some in mid December to be graded as FDOI.

I'm with everyone else in thinking that a MS69-MS70 2010 LSC will carry a premium for the fact that it is the first year of issue of a brand new design and they seem to get dinged up a lot more easily. I also think that these will not be minted in huge quantities.

I wouldn't pay more than 1 cent for a FDOI coin. Just another gimmick by a TPG for a dollar grab. IMHO.

I'm not convinced that these are any decent kind of investment. PCGS and NGC are running out of older coins to grade, so they have to come up with gimmicks like "First Strike" and "First Day of Issue" to sell their slabs...
