I won this on ebay. It was graded F12 by NGC. Is NGC a reputable company? I got this coin for 5.50 w/ shipping. Good Deal? Thoughts.

Is NGC a reputable grading company?

Thanks alot

ITs very bad but this is the pic the seller had up, IT has a serial number. Is there any way it can be checked out?

Hi LaxMaster, I'm only a beginner and I've learned and continue to learn SO Much on this forum. So, from what I've learned so far my question would be why would you even consider buying a coin based on such bad pics

I have heard NGC is ranked #2 behind PCGS, so yes it is a good company. I think you got a good deal because the 5.50 includes shipping. I don't know why someone sent in such a low grade coin to be certified. It probably cost them 15-20 dollars.

With the coin being graded by a reputable company and you could read the grade it was not that bad of a move. The sellar must not have had a good camera.

That was probably the case because most people can not take a good quality picture of a coin without blurryness or glare.

I agree, never buy a coin with a bad picture unless its graded by PCGS, NGC or ANACS. Either one of them three you are pretty much safe buying sight unseen (even though in my opinion ANACS has been leaving alot of room to be desired and if they dont fix some things they will be down there with the PCI's and NTS's)But with NGC and PCGS you are pretty much safe. The top two is usually the only slabs I buy (I know everyone on this forum stands behind ANACS but from my recent experience with their graded coins and slabs I just cant recommend someone send to them at this time unless they have a problem coin)
