First five are uncirculated, last three are proofs. I am really getting into these dollars, I wish I had bought them all from the mint when they came out. I had bought most of the Proof silver eagles over the years, can't believe I missed out on these.

I second that thought goldrush58. I just finished my 13 coin morgan CC collection and am interested in certain silver eagles, but of late, I am really hooked on commemoratives. I don't know how I over-looked them. Your coins look super....also, what is the going-rate on the 2001D American Buffalo silver dollar? Those are Sooooo nice!

Beautiful coins. I collect modern commemorative coins only when I see some good deals on ebay. Also, I am waiting for my Disabled Veterans proof coins.

Dollarcoins, I too try to buy comm dollars when ever I find a good deal. In fact I bought two impaired proofs today.
I really think these coins are the the best long term buys out there, for long term increasing in prices.

Quote: proof or uncirc for long term? or both? where, if you dont mind me asking did you pick these up? I like them both, but I do think the UNC's are the keys .. the lowest mintages .. and IMO long term the will be the high dollar coins. Those 8 I picked up all at the same time on the coinsbybobby site. I do see where they have gone up some.

Goldrush58, Looking at the beginning of your thread those 8 are real nice. Lately the price of silver is effecting the low end of the commemorative. The raw dollars now have a low end selling based on the melt value of the silver. The graded dollars are the best buy at this time because to the new buyer this is less important than the melt value. They want to feel that their buy is protected by the price of silver but we collectors know that the real value is sustained by the supply. Graded coins with a low inventory bring higher prices than the effect of silver or gold. Coins are not a good short term investment but they sustain there value and long term you will realize increased value. Buy only what you can afford to buy and be selective. Leave the speculating to those who have money to lose. The most beautiful coins are our commemoratives. Enjoy collecting them.

I had trouble selling the low end commeratives untill silver prices went up. I'm talking constitution and korea, liberty etc. They are selling in the 20- 23 dollar range this month. Also the brown box ikes no one wanted until silver went up.
