Saw this on ebay tonite... the bids were up to 81.00 @ 18m 54s...

http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-1840-SEATE...IN_W0QQitemZ220559138606QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item335a595f2e

Perhaps someone here could shed some light on this?

Excerpts from the description:
"Looks to be one of the miniature replica proof coins from the old Franklin Mint sets." huh? looks to be?

"Coin is 5-10mm in diameter." well which is it: 5mm or 10mm in diameter?

"Your satisfaction is very important to us! All sales are final. Please examine the description and/or pictures of the item thoroughly before bidding on an item. If your item came in a tamper resistant slab, removing the coin(s) from holder will void ANY and ALL return privileges. " huh? this statement is an oxymoron!

Check out his completed listings while searching for "Mini". He seems to be making a killing with these guys. More then likely silver plated. It's the first I've seen of any "mini" coins like this

If nothing else, this thread has helped me identify the brassy looking piece of ***!% that has been sitting on my desk since December. Thanks.

In my opinion, this is misleading. Should this seller be reported to ebay? What are the " ebay" implications of reporting a seller?
Rest in Peace

Eighty-one bucks bid on this, and won. Removes it far from the realm of a joke, methinks.

Finally! Word back from ebay about those listings...
I first reported using the link provided in each listing. Never heard word back.

Followed the advice provided in this forum, and used the ebay link in CCF, and below is the response I received today...

------

"Dear ebay Member,

Thanks for reporting these listings to us.

I investigated these listings and confirmed that they violated our
Selling Currency policy. As a result, I removed the listings.

Again, thank you for your report. We appreciate your help in keeping
ebay a safe and reputable forum to conduct business.

Sincerely,

Heidi
ebay Customer Support"

Just checked the Seller's listings. Those reported were removed. Since, it appears that the Seller has listed 3 more items with the same misleading Titles.
