I am no expert in Australian coins but according to Krause its a quite common coin minted in Perth (F$0.25 VF$0.75)...Unless its some kind variety/error not listed.
Nobody really knows here whether this is a rare variant and how many would cost in this condition approx.?" I " in GRATIA and in ELIZABETH each aligned with the gap between two rim beads.
Click on the links section on the left hand side and scroll down to "A Search for Minting Varieties of Australian Pre-Decimal Coins 1910- 1964: Half Penny to Five Shillings"
That's interesting--I've looked for this variety, but no luck sofar. It sure appears to be the obverse 9 shown on this page, and is described as "rare" for the Perth Mint issues.
Definitely the type 9, the "I" in Elizabeth and Gratia are between dentils. Have seen low grade coins sell on ebay in a range of $20 - $50 when accurately described.
