I had Ken Potter look at this thread and he said he thought it was a possible doubled die. I would think he would have chimed in with MD if it were as obvious to him. Not arguing with anyone, I respect the opinions of a lot of you who have responded, as well as Ken's. I'm just saying I'm not sure what to think.
I was originally leaning toward MD, but with mixed responses coupled with the fact that I can't seem to get a pic that does everyone justice, I just don't know what to do with it.
I guess I'll wait until May and send it to Ken, which is when he expects to be back in the saddle.

What I see from left to right is Machine Doubling. But from south to north it appears you may have a second eyelid. That would be consistent with a doubled die. While it is possible to have Machine Doubling in two or even three different directions on a coin, the second eyelid doesn't look like Machine Doubling. It's possible that you have a combination of Machine Doubling and a bona fide doubled die. But any secure determination would require a personal examination.

Could you tell me how to go about getting it to you? Or e-mail me a link or details? I couldn't find any info on the website on how to submit.

"flat shelf like in appearance classical 'damage' signs on the eye ball.however the eyelid appears to be doubled(die) in the upper eye socket above the original eyelid, just below the eyebrow..this is what is interesting to me." . i'll be for updates.

Well, finish your popcorn and let this thread die. Here is the response I got from James Wiles:
"The east-west is MDD and the North is part of the normal design. No need to pay to have this attributed. Thanks, James Wiles"
Oh well, the search continues.
