1972 Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC 1-DO-006?

StJoeBlues Pillar of the Community United States 573 Posts	Posted 02/28/2010 1:14 pm Found my first 1972 double die yesterday. I think it's a 1DO-006 but I'm not sure. It could be an 008. I can't find any other die markers. Any thoughts? By the sharpness of the strike on the reverse, I think this is probably EDS. I found a 006 last year- here are a few pics of the die-marker on the coin I found that matches perfect with coppercoins 006 by the lower right of the Memorial. I'm having trouble getting a clear close-up of the reverse and my camera batteries just died. In hand, the lettering on the reverse is extremely crisp, and the surface is very smooth (except for marks from circulation). I think this is an EDS specimen that hadn't developed die scratches, yet. Other than the doubling, which looks very similar from 006 to 008, none of the other die markers are evident. Matt Report this Post to the Staff
