What happened to this poor guy? A blob on his brow, mouth, and cheek, with a die crack on his nose.

Are the blobs die chips or die breaks? Is there a difference?

I'm not sure what causes this but it turns out to be a very common error. Some are more dramatic than others. In a recent dime search I came across hundreds of them. It seems to me that there must be a chip but that really doesn't explain why these blobs are rounded like someone dripped solder onto them.

Hmmm. Wasn't thinking along the lines of external forces adding material. I have found several of these as well, but this guy is by far the worst. They appear to me to be emanating from the cracks on the coin, almost like leaking out and building up.

Does nobody else have an opinion on this? I have found several of these and ironically every single one of them were 2006P's. Could they be related from the same die at different stages? There are various combinations of the chips/breaks.
