So what are the odds of finding a Barber dime. I know while searching nickels and about 140 boxes I have only found 2 V nickels. Is it similar to that? How many of you have found one in box or bag searching?

I have also found a half-dime

Went to pick up a box earlier, and dumped the last box. The new box was ALL 2014, tried swapping it at a TD bank right across the street from my pick up bank. They wouldn't do it, because fear of the box being tempered with etc. One teller had a attitude problem, like I was trying to cheat them. Drove to a TD where my friend works, but he was not there. I Dumped the from earlier, and took 4-5$ from the reject tube. drove to another TD, ask for a swap, explained what I was doing. Teller goes into vault to check, but comes back and said all boxes are New dimes.. I'mthinking BS.. drove to another TD and explained to teller if she can swap this box of dimes for me. Explained that I am hunting for silver, and need circulated dimes. She took a look in the holes and said and these are all brand new, No problem, it will take just 30 seconds. comes back out in about 3-4 mins and hands me a box, while saying, I made sure there not new. I went home. Now Just finished going over the box... half way in NO silver... 3/4 in No silver... 43/50 in Silver RIM! felt like winning the lottery. BAM a 1941D Merc. few more rolls in, BAM! another silver rim, it is a 1943D Merc. both coins are in EF condition. Two mercs made running around well worth it. Picked up some flowers for the wife as well. Everyone is happy. Oh an Barber dimes? I havent found one yet... and I go through 3-4 boxes a week for the past two months...

I search through around 16 to 20 boxes a week then trade my dimes in for quarters. I average 2-3 silvers per box. So far this year ive found 1 barber and 3 mercurys. Id say 2% of my silver finds are mercs and less then that bieng barbers

Do you trade evenly on face value for quarters? How do you work your trades?

I've been roll hunting nickels, but today I decided to roll hunt some dimes. I was excited to try something new and bought $500 dimes from my local bank. Some were customer rolls and others were bank sealed. I found that all of the bank rolls were (98%) 2014D :( Luckily one of the customer wrapped rolls had a 1960 right on the end. How do I avoid getting 2014D rolls but also not get customer rolls? Is it possible to get circulated dimes from bank sealed rolls?

I completed a full roll of Canadian silver dimes from circulation in the US. 1,395,850 coins searched for an average of 1 every 11 boxes. I found almost every year from 1940 to 1968.
Niiiiiiice! How long did it take?

I found six Barber dimes in a 12-box order of dimes about 5 years ago. Mercs galore!

Sometimes what I do is if there is a box with the top visible or if there is a loose place where I can peek at the top roll and see all new coins, I usually respond to the teller "Actually, I don't collect all new coins, I prefer the used ones." I did that for a $25 box of pennies today, and even after asking the vault teller, still could find another box. At least it wasn't for dimes, in which I searched two boxes today. All I found was a 1957 dime in VG condition with the reeded edge nearly worn away, but at least its something.

Two boxes today, from two different branches. One was a skunk, the other five! Fdr silvers. Pulled a 64 dime from the reject slot, at the last pick up bank.

If I get a box of all new coins I just go to the next bank where they know me well and trade them in. I do not reject anything a teller has to go out of their way to get.. Like getting into a vault to get the boxes I ask for. I think I will ware my welcome quick if I did that.
