Newfoundlander, it's because pre 1965 Dimes are 90% Silver. Also look for errors and varieties as well, not just for the 90% Silver.
Errers and Varietys.

Here is what my monthly totals have been for half the year. The last 3 months slow down you can easily see is due to me cutting my orders in half to pick up other denominations, primarily half dollars. Last year I started in April and ended up with 260 Silver Dimes found. Only 10 away from last years total. I cant wait to see what the next half year brings.

Also I notice Newfoundlander that you are from Canada. There silver dimes are 1968 and older. In the U.S. it is pre-1965. Also welcome to the forum.

Carloscoria,
Your totals are mind boggling. How many of those are Mercuries? How many are silver Canadians?

Also 1967-1968 Canadian dimes are only 50% silver, while 1920-1967 are 80% silver. I think that in 1967 some Canadian dimes were only 50% silver, while others from that year are 80% silver. I looked online for this information; I hope that it is accurate and that it helps you.
