I was surprised to get 2 of the new 2010 cents in change yesterday.

With all of the info going around about the reserve not sending out new coins due to the quantity already out there and the fact that they say that they don't segregate them for banks or collectors.

I'm going to check with my local banks to see if I can get some rolls just to have. I like to search new rolls for errors and high grade specimens.

Excellent find! Maybe some people just spent the ones they got at those ceremonies where you could buy them at face value.

I believe that they will be out in large numbers at some point.....they're just few and far between "right now".

I've been seeing single rolls on ebay for $10 each...a rip-off in my opinion.

This is true. But you have to realize that the cent is still not a liked or widely used coin, so while LARGE numbers of them flooded back to the Reserve as the economy collapsed in 2008 they have been disappearing back into the jars and hoards since then. So the cent is where production at the Mint first returns and it is also the coin that will have the new coins first show up in circulation. And in fact that is about the only coin still being struck by the mint. It and dollar coins that no one wants as long as they have dollar bills.

Tonight I got the log spliter and presidency together in change for the first time. I gave them to a boy who was looking at them while I was. I took the time to explain he should look for the other 2 different ones.

I also scored a full $25 box of the profesional life "P from my bank last week.

I've seen a handful of 09 cents in change, no 10's yet but I agree that they will come out in high numbers soon so I'm not too concerned with it.

Today I got an email from Wizard coin supply, they say if you buy $35 worth of supplies you get a free roll of 2010 cents. Spend a $100 and get 5 rolls.

The 2009 issues are far and few between in Tampa ... so I'm not holding my breath on seeing 2010s in the local area here for a long time ... but eventually, they'll come ...

The Cent has a far higher attrition rate than other coins. Zinc
corrodes fast with the copper plating gone, and many people don't
retrieve Cents left on the ground. The Cent is also the most likely
to be saved in jars (even in a bad economy, albeit on a lesser scale).

This is why a certain percentage of the 2009 Cent production simply
had to be distributed for circulation, no matter the state of
the economy. Otherwise, the 2009-D Cents would still be locked up in
the Fed, like the 2009-D Nickels and Dimes.

I'm still getting LP3's and LP4's as yet, but I'm sure I'll get some
2010-D Shield Cents by summer!
