I went to my bank today to change in some larger bills. As the teller was making my change, I looked over to his change tray(as I usually do) and noticed the tell-tell solid silver edge in the quarter row, third from the top. I asked him to also give me nine ones and four quarters. I quickly dropped the silver quarter in to my left empty pocket and the other three in my right as not to damage the coin. Not even counting the bills he had changed for me, due to my silly excitement, I rushed out to my truck to look at the coin. A very nice 1962. My eyes aren't great and couldn't tell the mint mark. I reached into my other pocket and pulled these coins because one didn't sound right. Low and behold, another, but a 1949 washington with some toning. Now comes the tears part. I understand finding one silver quarter, but two within four coins? I hurried back in to the same teller and asked if somebody had brought in customer wrapped rolls, he said no, just this could brought in a bunch of loose ones. He told the kid that they were silver, but the kid still wanted to cash them in. The teller not being a coin collector cared less and has been handing them out as regular change all day---I could have cried. But here it is worse. Couldn't wait to get home to look a them under a loupe. My eyes aren't great. Low and behold the 1962 is a D MS60++ and the 1949 is a D MS60 with toning. Now I wonder if this kid cleaned out grampa's complete, uncirculated Washington quarter set.....Can you imagine, 1932D? I'll never know. Sorry so long, didn't know how else to tell this story.

Great find. Might be worth going back and get more quarters, you might find some others worth your while.

wow.....just goes to show us that there are still some great finds out there...and make sure you check the quarters for RPMS! We can all spend the night wondering what the other lucky dogs that went to that teller got back in change.

my wife just came home from work and I told her my story, (not that she cares much about my coin passion) but anyway, she works at a restaurant 1/2 block from this bank, and as I finished my story, out of her pocket she pulls a 1952 Washington quarter in vg condition and 10 LP1 cents which look fresh from a roll. I am now very sure somebody cleaned somebody out. 3 silver quarters on the same day, whats the odds of that.

I'd say check your local coin stars and vending machine slots. the other quarters just may circulate in your town.
