So, if you think you have the possibility of a new doubled die or variety. Which attribution service would you send it to, and why?

I believe Coneca will attribute coin varieties for you, then its a matter of getting the MAJOR TPG's to acknowledge your coin and its variety, TPG's like PCGS< NGC and ANACS don't waste your time on others...

CONECA is good for general purpose stuff but if you are in a specialized area like VAMs, it is best to send to the recognized expert in the field. For VAMs, it would be Leroy Van Allen himself.

Quote: possibility We'd love to see it here. If it's not what you thought it was then it'd be better to have that known before you start spending money.

I had conversed with Ken Potter on some other business and asked him to look at an error thread I posted and he said it looked like a possible doubled die, but is currently not attributing due to illness. (Best wishes Ken!).
If it is, it would be a previously unlisted doubled die (at least, I haven't found it listed anywhere yet). But, I also don't have a cherrypicker's guide to check there, either.

different series of coins have different experts. I am not sure who the go to group/guy is for dimes but like was said above for Morgans and Peace dollars its Leroy Van Allen and I think coneca is for Lincoln Cents (but may do others as well)

I didn't consider specific coins to specific specialists, but makes sense. I should have been a little clearer in what I have/need. Thanks for the input.

For me it's NONE. Over the years I've accumulated 4 of those Whitman Red Cardboard boxes with 2 rows full of 2x2's of error, wierd, varieties, etc., coins. When I find anything that others would possibly have slabbed or something, I just put it in a 2x2, tape up the sides and into those boes it goes. Estimating about over 150 2x2's per box that would total to about 600, approximately. If those were all in slabs, I'd have to move out of my house due to lack of room.
