Is this real or are these people all dreaming this?
My banks will not even talk about getting me a box of Half's and the credit union I have quite a big account at will not even talk about it. The credit union will charge a BIG percent for using there coin counting machine if you do not have an account there.
I find it hard to believe that any bank or credit union would take 2 or 3 or 4 boxes of half's back each week it does cost them money.
Not trying to be smart just find this hard to believe that any bank would order anyone 4 boxes of JFK half's per week.
All the banks in central PA and down here in south Texas where I am now even stopped getting the new quarters and such about a year ago. No new 2009 cent rolls in 2009 they I guess were getting tired of being a coin store for the general public.
I do feel though that any bank should have to order you whatever you wish though because that is their job to distribute coinage to the general public. If they are a member of the Federal banking system.
The US mint should offer the direct mail program for the new quarters in 2010 as I know none of the banks I deal with will be getting them.

I have no problem getting halves or any other thing I may want from any of the banks I do business with here in eastern NC with the exception of Ike dollars. I was told once at a BB&t branch that I could not order halves, one day I went in and the teller remembered that I wanted some and she informed me that they had several hundred dollars of customer rolled halves that had been brought in the day before. Suspecting that it was a dump from another roll hunter I took them anyway. Not to my surprise the rolls contained nothing of value over face. Now I can get a box from them anytime I want as long as I bring a bag of Hershey's Kisses. And all because I relived them of unwanted coin and bring a sweet treat of course.

Some banks will only order if you have a business account. Some will volunteer to order for you without your even asking. I know monster hunters in some areas ordering 20+ boxes a week. My credit union will not order for me so they have become my dumping facility. Banks will come up with lame excuses, they don't really have to go out of their way for you. My advice is to find another bank that will order and pull your account and go to them.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

small credit unions are generally not to freindly to roll hunters from my experiences. Larger banks tend to be willing to order more coin. The largest order I've ever done was 6 boxes from one bank. I try to order 2 boxes from two different banks to spread out the burden, and I also alternate ordering between 6 different banks for dumping. -XoG

I have large accounts with two banks they act like I am crazy if I ask them to order anything the one bank I have two big accounts with I even took it to the main branch manager he said go somewhere else if you want we not order coins for anyone.
I must have tried 50 area banks they all look at me like I am crazy.
I travel all over the USA and just ask at different banks across the USA and always get the same answer oh we do not order any coins.
SO from what I have found you few are very Lucky people?

Yea right think I will pass on that offer. Besides no bank around here would take the dump from me either.

My credit union told me they wouldn't order without a fee either. I told them Suntrust would be glad to do it, and walked out. The CU called me on my cell phone within 10 minutes, told me their manager stated because my balance always remains above X, they'd order for me and waive the fee.
I went back, thanked the manager, explained what I do, and that I would dump the coin elsewhere if she wanted. She said I could bring it back or take it elsewhere, she didn't care.
They now order 1 box of pennies, 1 box of nickels and 1 bag of halves every Monday for me to pick up on Tuesdays.
I'm always friendly, talkative, and do not bug them during peak hours.

I have taken candy, been nice maintain a large balance but no one will even consider ordering me anything. I did take $2,200 dollars of new State Quarters and dumped there, $2500.00 in president dollars and dumped there also. That was to my credit union they had a fit but took them. I have explained to banks I am a coin collector and searching for coins bent over back-words to be nice all to no avail always get the same answer we can't do that. This morning I went to two bank here in south Texas and asked if they had any of the new pennies 1st explained I was from the east coast and looking for a coupe 2010 pennies D mints to take home with me they said they do not look for coins for people but if I wanted some pennies they can give me whatever they may have. That is my usual answer from any bank or credit union. Glad you few can get thousands in Kennedy half's and other coins I sure can't and I give up. Have fun searching.

"what I do" - coin collect and silver search. I pull what I want to keep out of the boxes/bags of coins, and sell the rest back.
My bank will only accept $100 or less in coin without incurring a fee.
So - I hit 5 branches up when dumping a $500 bag of halves. Not too big of a hassle, there are 7 in the 27 mile drive home from work, just takes up a little time going in each one.
