hey, that 29-s looks like it might be the die clash error.......there is something just above the right knee, which is right where the clashed B normally is. Can you take a better pic of it?

Did you know you can throw all those in a sack and take them to the bank and get paid cold hard cash for them...right on the spot?

Kurt, honestly, you're the exact kind of family-member a guy (or gal) wants to see his (or her) collection go to, there's no question about that. Enjoy the heck out of it. Understand, that may very well be the reason he never parted with it.

Eddiespin, Thanx. I'm just having some fun while, learning, teaching, and going through a bit of family history. Truthfully, I'm through most of the collection already. I thought it would be a fun to share and there are some interesting twists to the items collected by my grandfather to make the story interesting.

Wow, what a fun thread! I thought it was ironic that one of the oil cans said "RPM"!

Most of the LWC's are not that great. Glue and tape are not ideal for coins What can I do to restore them? Most will end up in tubes but they are so dirty that I dont want to mix them. Would just plain distilled water and a long soak be the first step in getting the tape, glue, and dirt off?

Kurt, distilled water is safe, but it probably won't remove the tape glue. Acetone will do it. Acetone is flammable...please do a search on here before using it.

( edit )
Unfortunately, after removing the tape, you'll probably see where it used to be.

Yes, it has some interesting properties, such as melting plastics that you should be aware of.

Wow! That folder was only dated to 1942; shows us how old it really is.

It is amazing to think about him pushing cents into it almost seventy years ago.
