Yup, you don't need a date on that first one to know it is a 1917S, since it is a T1

Thanx Nod! So It is a 1917S type 1 in about AG-G4? It is a Type 1 because there are not three stars below the eagle.

Hmmm...I didn't know about the 3 star diagnostic. I made it a Type 1 by the hair curl going up instead of down.

Kurt, cool stuff, thanks for sharing it.
You can also easily tell a TI even if you only see the obverse...the beads around the shield are closer together.

Now that I've got the 1917S Type 1 2x2 labeled, what should I label the rest as far as condition? Are they all VG-8 ish? Quote: Excellent finds - thanks for sharing this cool story. So - what coins are next? Good Question Afcrop! So forum, where to next?

Quote: Are they all VG-8 ish? The 1923 is your nicest, and I'd put it at F15.

And the 1928 comes in second place, grade wise. :)

I wanna see what's in the cans, lol. Might be that you could cut a piece of thin sheet metal to fit through the slots and long enough to reach the bottom of the cans and "spoon" the coins out so you don't have to do a chop job on them.

Jbucks order seems to make sense to me. The folders can be examined and photo'd relatively quickly. Depending on how full those cans are it could take Kurt some time to go through them.
I love the 1923 SLQ
This thread is fun!
