Hi to all. Found your website searching. Great place! Very knowledgeable group of guys here. My first post and had a question about the Australia one penny. How is this coin graded for condition? This is way out of my collecting field but I always find coins in the boxes and

1925-Australia-One-Penny-Question bags of military items I buy. The attached photo is one penny found in a group of 12 others with different dates. This 1925 is the best condition. Would like your input on it. Used a flash to show all the details of the coin and of course the color is a bit off as it is brown. Thank you kindly for information. GMay

This is the 2nd rarest Aust Penny that circulated. What a find! Mintage is 117000.

A shame it has the rim damage, but I'd still guesstimate that it's at least VF or better, but I'm not much chop at grading as my eye sight's a bit suspect.

The latest CV's:
VG $165 F $275 VF $425 EF $2,450 aUNC $8,250 Unc $17,500
Ch.Unc $35,000 Gem $65,000 Pf $325,000

1930 is the rarest, with 1946 the 3rd rarest. You are one lucky guy!

As nancyc said, pity about the rim damage! One excellent find, and just looking at the obverse, the fields appear good, the centre diamond appears sharp, tho moustache is prominent, not a lot of wear on the eye brow or the Kings regalia / shoulder area etc, some wear on the band and clear evidence of the 7th and 8th pearls. Ignoring the rim damage, in my humble opinion the coin may grade anywhere from gVF to aEF.
