Here she is. I am soaking it in distilled water to try and remove the glue residue from the reverse, but wanted to see what you all thought. Chance Edited by Chancellor Sutler 03/11/2010 1:27 pm

The reverse looks kinda cool the way it is.

That toning on the front is great.
I hope you can touch up the reverse, remove the glue & residue effectively without any damage.

Looks solid for AU-55 and likely for AU-58 if the luster is stronger than what shows in your photos. I think it does meet FH criteria, as well. The glue should come off with acetone if not with water. The only downside might be that the reverse color may be even more blotchy and uneven under the glue. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful coin and I think you got it for an excellent price. Congrats!

My little hundred dollar camera has problems capturing the mint luster on this one, but it's there in spades. I'm real tickled with it. I'll pick up some acetone and soak it in that to see if the rest of the glue comes off. Some of it came off with water, but there's still traces there.
I'm still messing with pictures.

Here's a shot with the lighting cranked a little. It shows the mint luster better, but you begin to lose detail. Chance

Yep, this is that coin....it laid in a drawer somewhere through the depression....and could have bought some food then too. It's amazing that it was just forgotten about for all those years.

I understand you are happy about your coin and I probably would be also but will you please refrain from starting 3 different threads about the same coin in the future. All you need to do is add a post to one of the others and it will be up top as a new response just like the new thread is and everyone will be able to see the whole story in one place

Got'cha Bryan. I guess I didn't figure everybody followed every sub-forum. My appology for wasting server space.

with no ill intent ..... and admit that I have been having a hard time figuring out all the threads associated with this coin/topic. Thanks Bryan for trying to maintain order ..... and to you as well Chance for your humble acknowledgement. That said ..... (not sure what thread of 3 I am posting in) ..... GREAT coin .... she is a beauty for sure and I would be proud to have her in my collection. Please keep us posted (in this thread ) on your progress towards removing the reverse gunk. David

I would not be offended if the other threads were deleted, and I know what you mean about the confusion. I must admit that even I'm confused by it.
I tried acetone....soaking and then through an airbrush at low pressure, and while there's little residue left, it's not too pretty on the reverse. I'm just going to leave it in the 7070 for now. I may send it to NCS after tax season and get it taken care of.

I believe it does meet the criteria for full head designation. I have been soaking the coin in hot water to remove the glue residue from the reverse. Here's what it looks like today. Chance
