Sorry: I put you instead of U. Note the differences of the thickness on the lower loop of the U. The OP coin doesn't have this spread. The Extra look of the 55 is just a so called poor man's doubled die. The die is at fault for excess wear and the die break on the head. The Dies from the 50's suffered a lot of wear as they continued to use them past the normal life to get every cent they could out of the dies. 53-55 look the worst.
