I remember reading several years ago about the US Mint using an experimental acid dip on some of their 1999 proof sets.Does anyone have any information about this? The reason I'm asking is I pulled out my proof sets the other day and noticed the 1999 clad coins had toned a pale golden color.None of the other sets stored with have this.I checked
for damage to the holder and didn't see any.

Never heard about that. Don't think the Mint would wasted time doing that since they just keep making new stuff for people to blow their money on so experimenting is not profitable.
