well that wouldn't work for me because I know NOTHING about world currency. I don't know which are rare, which are old, etc. I also would need to exchange to get that countries currency, and would also have to travel to that country EVERY week to search.

There is no need to go to another country to collect world coins, many people in the US collects coins from all over the world without ever leaving town. What he was saying is you can pick up a lot of 50-100 world circulated coins for $5 and have fun searching through and looking up the country of issue in a Krause or other World Coin Catalog. This can be fun and educational. Lots of collectors like to collect one coin from each issuing entity, a great way to build a decent collection without breaking the bank.

As others have already said slow down and learn to budget. The worst thing you can do is go around buying or committing to buy things you have no way of paying for, this is how you can loose a good reputation. When you commit to buy something weather it be in a forum like this, a business website, or ebay you are essentially entering into a contract to pay for the item you commit/bid on, it is unfair to others who actually have the money to spend to loose the item to a shill bidder.

Ha-ha...no, don't trade your Morgan. I certainly wouldn't want you to do that! I have one Morgan also, and it will never leave my collection. I don't think anyone else on here would expect you to trade that, either. But, you must have some other coins that could go on the "trading block"?

Like spock1k and cownas22 said, look into world coins. They are a LOT of fun. It's amazing how much you "accidentally" learn just by collecting them! And, you still being young, you can probably incorporate your coin collection into many school history or geography projects! They might actually help your grades!

As cownas said, you can get bulk bags of world coin for very affordable prices. I do that all the time. It's the Darkside version of "roll searching".

We have both dealt with Hippie Outcast. He has bulk world coins for a good price. Others on here do, too. And, you can find them all over e-bay and the rest of the 'net. Just be sure to shop around and ask advice from people who have bought before. Just like the "unsearched" penny roll you bought, there are "bad" world coin lots out there too. And, even some good ones are over-priced.

If you want to seriously think about joining the Darkside (world coins), let me know. I'll help you. As will many, many other Darksiders on CCF.

Is it me, or did I just sound like Darth Vader talking to a young Luke Skywalker?

"lafaa, join the Darkside"

Then get every bit of money that you can, and then save up so you can have something that really satisfies you. Also, you can try selling on ebay if your parents will allow that.

My suggestion is to completely stop buying coins of any kind for any reason. Sort of like stopping drugs, cigaretts, etc. You'll just have to stop BUYING. It's great to continue collecting, but do it the cheap way. Ask your friends, relatives, neighbors, etc for any old coins.

Another option to make money is call all of the local electricians in your area and ask them what they do with all the scrap pieces of wire from their jobsites. Arrange to pick up the scraps from the ones that will give it to you. Strip the wire and sell the scrap copper for money.

I paint houses and get a pile of scrap wire from the electrician I know. It takes time to strip it all, but I do it while watching tv. At over $3 a pound it adds up quickly

My husband is in a business that allows him to come across a lot of installation wire. He made over $1,200.00 last year, it paid some of the bills.
