It appears to be an 1804 Draped Bust large cent and copy or reproduction is not stamped any where on the coin. What do you think the grading and value on this would be? Would it be worth sending off?

I can't even begin to identify this coin from the pictures. It must have been underground for most of it's life, as that is some of the heaviest corrosion I've ever seen. If it is an 1804, it might be worth some premium(maybe $10); but it's not worth sending in IMO. Grade, I'd guess: G-6 details, severely corroded.

I would disagree, if it can be proven that its a true 1804 and not an electrotype, someone might pay $50 or $100 for it on ebay...

Fair enough. If you think it's a genuine 1804, send it in to ANACS and maybe someone would pay decently for it. I don't think anyone would pay anywhere near that based on those pictures though. good luck!

Since the coin is pretty tired anyway, I suggest carrying it for about a week with a pocket full of pennies. You'll find that the date will stand out a bit more...and you may be able to take a decent picture of it. You're not going to hurt it by doing that.

Yeah I doubt it either Johnny, though the folks on ebay are notorious for throwing outrageous bids at culls....
