I have a 2000 penny that's substantially thinner than a normal penny. Were all 2000 pennys thinner than normal?

It may appear thin but have you weighed it? An accurate weight will tell you alot about what is going on with that coin.

I'm sure that others have noticed this too,but i'll add that the '82 zincs and those up to date are thinner ever so slightly ,ie. a stack of copper cents will be higher/taller than a equally numbered stack of zincs.i discovered this after using an funnel type (incremented for 50 cent counts )coin counting plastic tube for I was using re:rolling the height varied enough to be a cent off ..my 'fix' was to adhere a cent to the bottom of the tube an add custom markers tob the side of it one for all coppers one for those funny/thin zinc thingees..

Most people try to judge "Thickness" by looking at the edge, but differences in striking pressure results in greatly varying filling of the rims and a large variation in the apparent "thickness". As a rule the weaker th strike the "thinner" the coin even though they are all struck from the same weight and thickness blank.
