First time I've ever ordered a bag from the mint. Trying to sort into keep, trade/sell, and release into the wild. There are a few that have this weird look to them.

Can someone tell me what this "discoloration" is, and what category it belongs in? Thanks.

A poorly polished die maybe or maybe struck thru a film of grease. I couldn't tell you for sure, but it looks like something that should be released into wild to me.

Thanks Tim. I figured most likely release, just wanted to make sure this wasn't something worth hanging on to. Especially coming straight from the mint.

How much does a bag of kenndy's cost and what is the face value? I'm guessing you lose money when you put some back into circulation.

It was $100 face value, $50 each of P&D, +$39 and change for shipping. I calculated my cost at .68 each. I'm only going to deposit the coins I wouldn't want to buy for my own collection or sell and jerk somebody. I'll keep a few gems for my set, and sell or trade rest that I know collectors would be happy with (at slightly more than .68 each, of course).

Not looking to get rich, just at least break even and I come out ahead by a few gems for my set! Along with the one light die crack I found.
