How Would You Grade This 1885m Mexican 8R?

Archraz Pillar of the Community United States 3499 Posts	Posted 03/28/2010 1:56 pm echizento- Nah, I don't think so. The edges are pretty good, it sounds of silver, and it is 26.93 grams. So I'm pretty sure that this one is real. Other than the strike were there any other indicators that led you to think that this was a fake? Rayhaldo Valued Member United States 74 Posts	Posted 05/31/2010 12:42 am My understanding is the 'Dragons Teeth' started to be used on the coins in 1867 in the Mexico mint. Your coin shows these as small pointed spikes on either side of the central downward pointing ray. That tells me the coin is authentic and I would grade it VF as well. Nice chop marks. I like that because then you know the coin has been around the world and is full of history. Report this Post to the Staff
