Well with my wife's morning sickness putting the kybosh on me getting up to the ANDA show in Brisbane I just went to my first coin 'show'. I hesitate to call the Adelaide Coin and Stamp Fair this though because it was very small. It was about 8 vendors in the St Peters Town hall. Of the eight, 2 were coin dealers, one was a stamp dealer with some notes, and the others were just stamp dealers.

One of the dealers had his stock priced optimistically to say the least. His Peace and Morgan dollars were way overpriced, and most of the Peace dollars were obviously cleaned or dipped. He was also offering up circulated 50c pieces at the bargain price of $4. Not surprisingly I didnt get anything from him.

The other coin table was run by this guy http://stores.ebay.com.au/id=911538...:MEFS:MESST. He had a bunch of stuff and bargain boxes worth going through. I picked up a couple of commemorative 1oz silver coins for $15 each. I also picked up a 1 kilo bag of world coins for $18. The only coins I was specifically looking for were post 1938 3d in UNC+ and he didnt have anything in that grade. His prices were pretty good though, for the things I knew the going rate of.

I picked through the world coins this afternoon and found a couple of 90% silver coins (from panama and guatamala) worth a couple bucks each, a 1918 Belgian 50c (worth perhaps $4), a turkish 1935 10 kurus (worth $2), a canadian 1856 1c, and a 1949 french algerian 50F. All of these add up to more than half the value of the bag so I'd call that good value. When I finally get my krause I'll have fun identifying the rest.

EDIT: Just looking on ebay at the coin from panama (a 5 centesimos 1904). The coin I have grades VF+ by my eye and is still very lustrous. Examples in worse condition have just gone on ebay for $13US which is the whole value of the bag!!! Not a bad find.

That was good bag of world coins you got there. I'd like to see a picture of the canadian 1856 1c.

Sure here's the Canadian 1c piece. Its a lot lighter than this and still has some luster about it.
