Over the next month I'd like to post some Walking Liberty half dollars for Forum input on grade; none of my WLs are extrodinary ... but they're mine and while I plan to slowly upgrade individual coins, I'm still keeping these. The upgrade process is going to be slow, though ... all the posts of SLQs on this forum is giving me the fever to start collecting those ... which will interfere with my WL upgrade plans!

This is a 1918D that is well circulated and shows evidence of either a rub ot slight cleaning ... looking for thoughts on grade (note: zero luster on this coin) ... THANKS!

I agree with VG, though the parallel lines may indicate an old cleaning.

A cleaning, especially that light, will not affect a coin's grade. If sent in to a TPG, it would be graded something like VG-8 Details. A coin that has been cleaned will be considered a "problem coin," but it will not affect the grade by that many points.

I think you are safely in G territory with full rims, but IMO too much flatness for VG. Appears to have light wipe marks. (As an aside, are you able to adjust white balance on your camera? That would convey the color more accurately, I believe.) I like your coin. Finding these in VF or so, for the teens and twenties, is a daunting challenge!
