If that is slight rub on the eagles left wing AU-58. If not it is MS-62/63. These incuse coins are difficult to grade but a fun series.

Thanks everyone! No, there is no wear or rubs on the wing-shoulder at all! I've compared it to MS-65 in PCGS book and mine looks a bit nicer in the fields. I'll grinning!

How is the luster? Lotsa cartwheel? At MS-65, the luster should be blinding, and I don't see any from the photos. These are next to impossible to grade via photos, and tough in hand as well. I have an AU-58 that everyone graded 64/65 based on photos. Also, counterfeits are difficult to detect in this series, which can make raw purchases quite dangerous.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I have absolutely no idea. However, MS-65 is a very rare grade commanding 5 figures with any $5 indian. If the coin is raw, the chances are very very slim that it makes a 65 or higher.

My guess, and it's only a guess from the pics, is AU55 or AU58 details. These are tough coins to get into problem free holders and that is usually required to get strong money out of them. Altered surfaces and/or cleaning occur very frequently with this series.

It's still a good coin any way you cut it.
