You don't know when a coin will rise in value. The silver market among other factors determine that. There are ways of projecting a coins rise and fall in values, but they are never 100% accurate. A Morgan dollar could decrease sharply in value, or vice versa.

Well... I know what a proof coin/set is.. and so I'm wondering.. what is best to collect for the future of if it may go up.. proof sets from the mint, or uncir from the mint.. or just buying 20-80 dollar coins off ebay.. where would YOU put your money? in the mint, or private sellers?

It depends. I personally look for good deals on silver and other coins then resell. I purchased some silver and other miscellaneous coins at a pawn shop once for $200, and sold them the next day for $375.
Stick around and learn more about coins and eventually you might be able to make money buying and reselling. Do not dive into investing in coins if you don't know much about them.
Also, there is no "magic answer" to making money, in coins or anywhere else. Time, patience, and especially knowledge are three keys.

One possible longer term investment would be semi-keys and key date coins. You have to learn what those are, which ones you think might be currently undervalued in today's market. The nice thing is that they will be easy to sell in the future. Most key dates climb in value from year to year. Most keys and semi-keys tend to be lower mintage coins. There are, however, many examples of lower mintage coins that are not keys because of lack of interest. Do your homework!

with mycrob. I have never failed to see appreciation buying decent grade key dates. I am scared to death, no matter what the talking heads say, that as the economy recovers and the dollar rebounds, gold will trend down. Jim
