Wow - so many great answers! Current favorite coin is my recently acquired 1868 Two Cent Piece. It is the first coin for my 1868 year collection and in XF condition. Favorite design is a tie with Seated Liberty's and Standing Liberty quarters. I'm desiging a tattoo for myself based on the shield on the front of Seated Liberty coins. I also love the look of Buffalo nickels - they are very heartlandish, very Americana so to speak. And - not too horribly expensive to build a complete set of. AND I find about 1 every 3 boxes of nickel searching too, so that makes them fun cause I can actually find one once in a while.

I'd say the Walking Liberty halves are a good find, you can still get au/ms ones at a very affordable amount (got a au-58 42-p for 9 last week, very nice design. just my opinion. have fun!

Geepers .... this is impossible for anyone to answer for you .... it's a personal decision.
My current favorite is the Classic US Silver Commemorative series ... c'mon folks .... where else can you find so much history, coinage beauty, political intrigue, low mintage, variety, and all around joy as this series?
Alas .... it's a $52,000 type set in PCGS MS65 ..... so much for my dream.
